An artificially modified phytochrome gene; a plasmid vector having the gene incorporated therein; a plant having the gene introduced therein; and a method of creating them. In particular, a plant characterized by high photosensitivity, increased pigment content, extension of flowering period, ovary enlargement, enlargement of stem or turnip, etc. is provided by the introduction of the gene.
