PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video output apparatus capable of preventing malfunction of a synchronization video recording function by limiting a video output only at a video recording reservation state in the case of carrying out video recording using the synchronization video recording function. SOLUTION: The video output apparatus 100 is provided with: a reception circuit 11; an output circuit 12; an output mode selection means 15 for selecting a first output mode wherein a video output means outputs a video signal at application of power or a second output mode wherein no video signal is outputted at the application of power; and a control section 16, and the control section 16 performs control not to out put the video signal at application of power when the output mode selection means 15 selects the second output mode and performs control to output the video signal in a state at the application of power and during execution of reservation video recording and in a standby state and during execution of reservation video recording. Thus, in the case of using the synchronization video recording function to carry out video recording, malfunction of the synchronization video recording function can be prevented by limiting the video output only at the video recording reservation.
