PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a supporting structure for a shift lever which supporting structure prevents the inserted shift lever from coming off and is provided with improved assembling characteristics by reducing the number of parts and the manhour of mounting work. SOLUTION: According to the supporting structure, a spherical part 2 is formed on the lower part of the shift lever 1 and is supported spherically by a supporting member 3. The supporting member 3 has an inner peripheral spherical part 6, whose lower end 63 is bent radially to be expandable. The shift lever 1 can be pressed/inserted to be mounted from below the supporting member 3. The lower end of the shift lever 1 is made to come in contact with a housing 8 to prevent the shift lever 1 from coming off from the lower side of the supporting member 3.
