PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To securely braze a header tank 5 to an end plate 7 in a heat exchanger formed to close both end openings of the header tank 5 by the end plate 7 of a core 4. SOLUTION: The header tank 5 comprises a cylindrical body part 12 and a projected edge part 13 projected from both side edge parts of the body part 12 and extending in the longitudinal direction of the body part. The end plate 7 is formed to be wider than the width dimension of the body part 12 of the header tank 5 and to be narrower than the total width dimension of the header tank 5 including the projected edge part 13. Then, a slit 14 for passing the end plate 7 therein between both projected edge parts 13 is formed in the header tank 5, and the overall end face of the body part 12 is closed by the end plate 7 in the slit 14 of the header tank 5.
