摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for improving germination of a plant seed used for agriculture and horticulture, afforestation, and mountains and forests in which the germination of the seed is physically and physiologically suppressed by a structure surrounding a seed embryo, i.e. a seed coat (testa, pericarp or the like) of the hard seed, capable of stably producing the seed improved in the gemination without loss, by preventing the seed embryo from being damaged and surely conducting uniform seed treatment corresponding to the seed one by one, and capable of preventing a problem from being caused to a working environment, or the like, and to provide the seed improved in the germination which is obtained by this method. <P>SOLUTION: This method for improving the germination of the seed comprises irradiating a part of the seed coat of the plant seed with a laser beam and giving perforations to the part of the seed coat. Thus, factors of physically and physiologically suppressing the gemination, such as those of gas or water permeability to the seed embryo, are dissolved, so that the germination is improved. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p>
