<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phase difference film which does not accompany a complicated process and is excellent in productivity and whose retardation value in a thickness direction is freely adjusted from a positive value to a negative value by changing the difference of a refractive index between on a film surface and in the thickness direction. <P>SOLUTION: The phase difference film is composed of composition containing molecules having a mesogen group and layered compound at least by one kind. A method for manufacturing the phase difference film includes a process for obtaining organized layered compound obtained by performing the organophilic treatment of the layered compound by an organizing agent, a process for obtaining liquid mixture by bringing the organized layered compound and the molecules having the mesogen group into contact with a solvent, and a process for making the liquid mixture flow and extend on a base plate. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
