A rubber composition for tire tread simultaneously realizing high wear and abrasion resistance and low heat build-up. In particular, there is provided a rubber composition for tire tread comprising rubber components loaded with, per 100 parts by weight thereof, 10 to 250 parts by weight of carbon black. The carbon black is one produced by a carbon black production process wherein there are satisfied the relationships: 2.00<=alpha<=9.00 ... Formula (1) -2.5xalpha+85.0<=beta<=90.0 ... Formula (2) providing that alpha=t1xT1 and beta=t2xT2 in which t1 is a residence time (sec) from introduction of raw hydrocarbon in a high-temperature combustion gas stream to introduction of a quenching medium therein; T1 is the average reaction temperature (°C) in provided space; t2 is a residence time (sec) from the quenching medium introduction to entry of reaction gas stream into a reaction termination zone; and T2 is the average reaction temperature (°C) in provided space.
