A number of terminals may be used, each of which contains a data processing circuit (113). In a typical layout, five communication modules (101-105) may be connected by a network (100) with six connecting lines (106-111) connected to various terminals (18-21) of a communication circuit (112) in each module. Each module has either two or three terminals connected to a transmission line, and each module is connected to every other module, either directly or indirectly. There is a system for identifying and addressing signals sent between the various modules.
