PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling the tension of a steel strip in the looper of a continuous annealing line, which stably passes the steel strip through the looper while preventing the drawing of the steel strip and facilitates arithmetic processing for determining a control parameter for the tension of the steel strip in the looper, in order to reduce energy used in manufacturing the steel strip while passing it through the continuous annealing line. SOLUTION: The method for controlling the tension of the steel strip in the looper arranged in the outlet side of a cooling zone of an annealing heat treatment facility in a continuous annealing line includes changing the set value of the tension in the looper according to a temperature of the strip which enters the looper.
