PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology capable of storing control information related to a capacity accompanied by an increase in the quantity of image data to a storage medium even if the quantity of the image data storable to the storage medium is increased. SOLUTION: A memory card 11 attachable to / detachable from a camera 10 includes data areas for storing an image data file 14-n and control areas for storing an album list 17 denoting a relation of registration between an album to which the image data file 14-n is registered and the image data file 14-n. A CPU of the camera 10 detects a total storable capacity of the loaded memory card 11 and determines the capacity used for the control areas in the storage areas of the memory card 11 on the basis of the detected total storable capacity.
