PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for a flash discharge tube by which high pressure discharge gas can be enclosed in a simple way without mixing of cooling medium as impure gas. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method includes a process for sealing a bar shape electrode 3 to the end of a glass tube 2; a process for fixing temporarily a bead glass 7 pierced with a bar shape electrode 4 to the other end of the glass tube 2; a process for enclosing the discharge gas inside the glass tube 2 after exhausting the inside of the glass tube 2 from the other end of the glass tube 2, and for solidifying or liquefying the discharge gas in the glass tube 2 by cooling one end of the glass tube 2 with enclosed discharge gas using coolant 10; and a process for sealing the electrode 4 to the other end of the glass tube 2 by melting the other end of the glass tube 2 where the bead glass 7 is fixed temporarily and the bead glass 7, and joining them together.
