PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a placing method and system of a heavy article capable of receiving the heavy article at a high place, carrying the heavy article with the height held and stability secured and placing it on the high place. SOLUTION: This system has: a first process to arrange a position of a center of gravity of the heavy article 11 placed on a first frame 12 in a region surrounded by an elevating means 18 arranged on a placing base 16 of a self-propelled carriage 14; a second process to place the heavy article 11 on the carriage 14 by lifting it through a horizontal member 17 by raising the horizontal member 17 with an upper stage supporting frame group 15 by the elevating means 18; a third process to support a lower stage supporting frame 19 at a high position higher than the height to place it on a second frame 13 by inserting the lower stage supporting frame 19 in a clearance 66 between the upper stage supporting frame group 15 and the placing base 16; a fourth process to make the carriage 14 travel to and enter the frame 13; and a fifth process to place the heavy article 11 on the second frame 13 by lifting the heavy article 11 through the horizontal member 17 by the elevating means 18, removing the lower stage supporting frame 19 and lowering the heavy article 11.
