摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for a drive unit for a vehicle, in which the drive unit can be compacter, and in which fuel economy is improved. <P>SOLUTION: A power distribution mechanism 16 is provided with a change-over clutch CO and a change-over brake BO to selectively change a speed change state change-over type transmission mechanism 10 over to a continuously variable transmission state to operate as an electric continuously variable transmission, and to a stepped transmission state to operate as a stepped transmission. By means of a change-over control means 50, the transmission mechanism 10 is changed over to either of the continuously variable transmission state and the stepped transmission state based on prescribed conditions. In a case where the transmission mechanism 10 is set in the stepped transmission state, power is transmitted only through mechanical transmission passages. In high speed travel, conversion loss between power in the continuously variable transmission and electric energy is restricted to improve power economy. In high output travel, the range for the continuously variable transmission state is in a low to middle speed travel and low to middle output travel. The maximum value of the electric energy transmitted by a first motor M1 can be smaller, thereby the first motor M1 and the transmission mechanism 10 for the vehicle including that can be further compacter. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
