PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a CCD linear sensor, capable of making the amount of saturated stored charges at each sensor constant, even when the variations in manufacture are caused on an electronic shutter gate, and of preventing the occurrence of variations in the output. SOLUTION: The electronic shutter gate is formed on the side of each sensor in the CCD linear sensor with a plurality of sensors formed on a substrate in rows. At the lower part of the sensor, an overflow barrier having the potential deeper than that of the electronic shutter gate is formed.
