A non-sporulating Bacillus subtilis strain where at least 150 nucleotides are deleted from its sigG gene is described. This deletion is disclosed to comprise at least part of either of the functional regions of the sigG gene which code the amino acids 67 to 80 or 229 to 248, respectively, of the sigG protein, having swiss PROT accession number P19940. A Bacillus subtilis strain is also described which contains Seq. ID No. 9, as well as a strain wherein upstream from the selection marker gene there is an at least 20-nucleotides long overlap region that is homologus with an at least 20-nucleotides long overlap region downstream from the selection marker gene. The use of the strain as a production organ to produce a recombinant polypeptide or beta-lactamase, and a method for preparing a biologically prepared product with the non-sporulating bacterium is also disclosed. |
