PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing organohalosilane, capable of much improving production rate and sustention thereof and increasing utilization factor of silicon without decreasing selectivity of effective silane by using an effective amount of catalyst alloy powder produced by an atomization method and containing 0.2-8 mass% tin and 4-20 mass% phosphorus. SOLUTION: The method for producing organohalosilanes represented by general formula (I); R<SB>k</SB>(H)<SB>m</SB>SiX<SB>(4-k-m)</SB>(wherein, R is a 1-12C univalent hydrocarbon; X is a halogen; k is an integer of 1-3; m is an integer of 0-2; k+m is 1-3) is provided, wherein a catalytic substance comprising catalytic components containing metallic silicon and copper contains an effective amount of catalyst alloy powder produced by an atomization method and containing 0.2-8 mass% tin and 4-20 mass% phosphorus.
