The continuous blanket (1), for a papermaking or tissue or cardboard production machine, is formed by joining the ends (2,3) together at a joint where they overlap to be stitched together, and with edge strips (5,6) to define the width. A reinforcement (8) bridges the joint at the paper side (7), to lock the ends together under all operating conditions. The reinforcement has a contact bonding action between a hook strip (13) and a pile strip (14) with strip sections (11,12) at the blanket edge strips.
