<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress unexpected expenses for utility rates for power, gas, water service, and the like. <P>SOLUTION: A method previously sets the supply amount of a supplied item supplied to a demand side 10 from a supply side on the basis of a request from the demand side having meters 24, 26, 28 for controlling the supply amount. A terminal 11 operated by the demand side informs, through a communication network 12, supply side systems 16, 18, 20 controlled by the supply side of the desired supply conditions of the supply item. A supply side system prepares meter setting data corresponding to the desired supply conditions on the basis of the informed desired supply conditions, and replies, through the communication network, the meter setting data to the terminal. Now, the demand side transmits the meter setting data replied to the terminal to each meter from the terminal.
