PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus which can discharge information charges out of a specific pixel while at the same time keeping the transfer efficiency of information charges. SOLUTION: In the imaging apparatus 10, an imaging section 12 is such that a plurality of light receiving pixels for converting incident light into information charges and accumulating them during an imaging period are organized in the matrix structure on a light receiving region on a semiconductor substrate. An accumulator 14 temporarily accumulates the information charges vertically transferred from the imaging section 12. A horizontal transfer 16 horizontally transfers the information charges accumulated in the accumulator 14 by the unit of row. A driving section 19 controls the vertical transfer and carries out the control operation, so that the information charges of either one of the plurality of light receiving pixels included in the imaging section 12 may be discharged into the semiconductor substrate over the entire imaging period, and that two or more light receiving pixels may be mixed during the transfer of charges.
