PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can achieve prevention against a ghost and improvement of transfer efficiency in a well-balanced state at high level. SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus is equipped with an electrophotographic photoreceptor, a charging device, an exposing device, a developing device, and a transfer device; and the electrophotographic photoreceptor has a conductive base and a photosensitive layer which is provided on the conductive base and contains hydroxy gallium phthalocyanine having a maximum peak wavelength within a range of 810 to 839 nm in a spectral absorption spectrum in a wavelength range of 600 to 900 nm, and the transfer device has a transfer member arranged abutting against the electrophotographic photoreceptor across a transfer destination medium and is capable of a current of 1.5×10<SP>-4</SP>to 8.0×10<SP>-4</SP>μA/mm2 in current density from the transfer member to the electrophotographic photoreceptor.
