PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber bundle cord of a close-packed array bundling a plurality of primary coated optical fibers, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to an optical fiber bundle cord which results from bundling a plurality of primary coated plastic optical fibers comprised of cores and clads and in which a cross-sectional shape of a bundle aggregate is a polygonal close-packed array, and relates to a method of manufacturing the plastic optical fiber bundle cord with which when manufacturing the optical fiber bundle cord by bundling the plurality of primary coated plastic optical fibers comprised of cores and clads using a nipple, the bundle aggregate is disposed in the close-packed array by making polygonal a shape of a distal end of an inner diameter of the nipple, and the outer periphery of the bundle aggregate is then covered with a resin coating layer.
