<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new positive electrode material with large charging/discharging capacity at high voltage and a good cycle property to reduce the weight of a lithium secondary battery and its manufacturing method, and to provide the lithium secondary battery using the positive electrode material. <P>SOLUTION: This positive electrode material for the lithium secondary battery has a chemical composition represented by Li<SB>x</SB>Mn<SB>1-y</SB>Ti<SB>y</SB>O<SB>2</SB>(0.40< x<0.50, 0< y<0.56) and a crystal structure belonging to a rhombic system, and consists of lithium, manganese, titanium and oxygen which have a tunnel structure which lithium occupies.
