<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a configuration in which operability can be improved, in an image forming apparatus wherein a paper ejection part comprising a sheet placing portion is provided above a printing mechanism and furthermore, a reading part is provided above the paper ejection part. <P>SOLUTION: In a multi-functional apparatus 100, a sheet outlet slot 323 and a sheet placing portion 322 capable of placing an ejected sheet thereon are provided above an image forming part 300 and furthermore, an image reading part 200 is provided above the paper ejecting part so as to cover the entire upper part of the sheet placing portion 322. At the apparatus front side of the image reading part 200, an operating panel 400 is extended so as to protrude its distal end from the front end side of the sheet placing portion and between a lower surface of the image reading part 200 and a sheet placing surface 322a, on the other hand, an opening 326 is formed for taking a sheet out of the apparatus front side. A recess 402 is then formed in a part of a breadthwise direction facing the opening 326 so as to set the amount of protrusion from the image reading part 200 smaller than a maximum protruding amount of the operating panel 400. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
