<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide, in general, a new type of capillary electrophoresis probe and a capillary electrophoresis method which uses the same. <P>SOLUTION: The new type of capillary electrophoresis probe and the method using the same are described. The new type of capillary electrophoresis probe is constituted of one type of vinyl carboxylic acid compound or more or its derivative. In other embodiments, the method detects ions in water by capillary electrophoresis and introduced to capillary tubes filled with an electrolytic solution, in which water contains UV-absorbing chemical species constituted of one or more types of vinyl carboxylic acid compound. A voltage is impressed along the capillary tubes for moving and separating ions present in the water along the capillary tubes. The ions are substituted with the UV-absorbing chemical species and detected indirectly by a UV/visible light photometric detector. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
