PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon fiber bundle uniformly and widely openable without varying yarn width ratio at room temperature and without applying any heat in its opening step, and to provide a method for opening the same. SOLUTION: The carbon fiber bundle substantially having no twist and imparted with a sizing agent is provided. The carbon fiber bundle has the following properties: (1) drape value X2 at 25°C is 5-12 cm, (2) the ratio (X1/X2) of drape value X1 at 80°C to the drape value at 25°C is 0.8-1.1, and (3) F/F coefficient of friction is 0.10-0.28.
