PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wood preservative which enables excellent penetration of an active ingredient into wood, is excellent in antiseptic, fungicidal, ant- and insect-repelling effects and has reduced odor. SOLUTION: An antiseptic/fungicidal agent for wood based on organic iodine, triazole, etc. and/or an ant-/insect-repellent for wood based on pyrethroid, neonicotinoide, etc. and, if required, a surfactant are compounded with a diphenyl alkane wherein one of the phenyls is a phenyl group and the other is an 3-4C alkyl-substituted phenyl group and the alkane has one or two carbons atoms. The wood preservative can be formulated into an oil solution prepared by dissolving the antiseptic/fungicidal agent for wood and/or the ant-/insect-repellent for wood in the diphenyl alkane, an emulsion further containing the surfactant and water, a microcapsule prepared by microencapsulating the diphenyl alkane and the ant-/insect-repellent for wood, etc. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
