PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet measuring instrument for measuring the thickness or the number of sheets to be measured. SOLUTION: At least one electromagnetic wave leakage hole is disposed on one wall surface of a microwave waveguide tube, and electromagnetic waves are emitted into the waveguide tube so that the electromagnetic waves leak from the leakage hole. The sheet to be measured is disposed on the leakage hole so that the sheet surface is disposed opposite thereto. When the electromagnetic waves leaking from the leakage hole is transmitted through the sheet, since the electromagnetic waves in the waveguide tube change due to the relative dielectric constant of the sheet material, such as paper, resin, or rubber, the thickness or the number of the sheets is detected.
