A process for refining a sugar solution which comprises the adsorption step of bringing a sugar solution into contact with a phenolic adsorbent resin and the ion exchange step of bringing the solution into contact with an ion-exchange resin. In particular, a process which comprises passing a raw sugar solution (16) through, successively, a phenolic adsorbent resin column (10), a strongly basic anion-exchange resin column (12), and a mixed bed column (14) filled with both a strongly basic anion-exchange resin and a weakly acidic cation-exchange resin to thereby obtain an odorless refined sugar solution (18). According to the process, odorous components contained in a sugar solution can be removed, whereby the leak of an odorous component into a refined sugar solution can be inhibited.
|
