<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer receptive sheet suitable for a dye thermal transfer printer, having an interlayer containing hollow particles, improved in defects like unevenness of light and shade and defects like a snow flake phenomenon, at a low cost, having high sensitivity, high image quality and high durability, and also a method of manufacturing said sheet, and an image forming method therewith. <P>SOLUTION: The thermal transfer receptive sheet comprising a sheet support and sequentially superimposed on at least one surface, an interlayer containing hollow particles and an image receptive layer, is characterized in that the hollow particles have an average particle diameter of 0.5-10 μm and a volume hollow ratio of 75-95% and that the surface of the thermal transfer receptive sheet exhibits a degree of printing smoothness (Rp value), measured 10 m/sec after initiation of pressure application at an applied pressure of 0.1 MPa by means of a microtopograph, of 1.5 μm or less.
