PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyamide-imide exhibiting excellent flame retardancy while keeping the adhesiveness to a metal; and to provide a resin composition containing the polyamide-imide. SOLUTION: The polyamide-imide has a chemically bonded phosphorus atom in the molecular structure regulated so that the content of the phosphorus atom based on the whole mass is 0.5-2.5 mass%.
