PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change the purity of an Ar gas used in a blowing step of a converter in accordance with quality required to molten steel. SOLUTION: This method of feeding Ar gas when feeding oxygen gas and the Ar gas to a top-blown, bottom-blown, or top and bottom combined blown converter in a blowing operation for the purpose of decarburizing the molten steel includes controlling the concentration of nitrogen impurity in the Ar gas used for converter blowing in accordance with a required level for nitrogen concentration in the molten steel after converter blowing, by using crude Ar gas and high-purity Ar gas appropriately, to thereby reduce the consumption of the refined Ar gas and energy consumption for refining the Ar gas.
