PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound absorbing material for a vehicle having an excellent sound absorbing performance without increasing the thickness and the bulk specific gravity so as to obtain uniform permeability through the whole area. SOLUTION: The sound absorbing material for the vehicle is constituted so that a laminated body having an air permeability of 1 to 25 cc/cm<SP>2</SP>/sec and a unit weight of 100 to 2000 g/m<SP>2</SP>is formed by thermally fusing fiber nonwoven fabric or resin film 2 having the air permeability of 100 to 300 cc/cm<SP>2</SP>/sec and the unit weight of 15 to 200 g/m<SP>2</SP>which is made of thermoplastic synthetic resin such as polypropylene, polyethylene, polyester, and polystyrene or the like to a sound absorbing layer 1 made of a porous material such as felt, glass wool, and urethane foam or the like.
