<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform excellent transfer in the state of improving conductivity of a sheet and to prevent a thin band-like image from being formed in a background part. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: a charging member CR; a transfer control means C5 for performing constant current control of a transfer current to be applied to a sheet transfer member TR; a discharging member DTS for discharging a charged sheet S when passing a sheet transfer area; a sheet conductivity detector SN for detecting conductivity of the sheet S; a sheet conductivity discrimination means C1c for discriminating whether or not the sheet S has conductivity in accordance with a detecting signal of the sheet conductivity detector SN; a discharge control means C6 for turning off the discharging member DTS or turning said member into grounding or floating state if the sheet S has conductivity; and a charging potential control means C4 for performing control so that a charging potential of a photosensitive body PR can simultaneously increase. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
