SUBSTRATE WITH ORGANIC THIN FILM, TRANSISTOR USING SAME, AND METHODS FOR PRODUCING THOSE

Disclosed is a substrate with an organic thin film wherein the organic thin film such as a C60 film can be two-dimensionally grown. Also disclosed is a transistor using such a substrate. A substrate (1) with an organic thin film is obtained by sequentially forming a buffer layer (3) and an organic thin film (4) on a substrate (2) and having the organic thin film (4) oriented by the buffer layer (3). A layer which is likely to orient to the substrate (2) or the buffer layer (3) may be interposed between the substrate (2) and the buffer layer (3). A sapphire substrate can be used as the substrate (2); pentacene or fluorinated pentacene can be used for the buffer layer (3); and C60 or rubrene can be used for the organic thin film (4). Consequently, there can be obtained a two-dimensional thin film of C60 or rubrene having high quality. By using such a substrate (1) with an organic thin film, there can be realized a field effect transistor with high performance.
