A device and system (100) are provided for monitoring acoustic emissions from machinery (4) to indicate levels of detected sound waves (10). Each incorporates an acoustic sensing device (20) which broadly comprises a housing assembly (22) constructed for removable attachment between a surface mounting region (2) of the machinery (4) and a measuring instrument (3) to define a coupled state. An acoustic emissions sensor (20) is disposed in the housing assembly's interior (23) to detect sound waves propagating through the surface mounting region (2) and to produce detection signals for processing by the measuring instrument (3). A methodology for monitoring acoustic emissions is also provided. |
