<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a string stretching device for stringed instruments which enables a string to be surely fixed by only manual lever operation without using a tool like a wrench. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of saddle attaching members 32 are arranged on an upper surface of a bridge base 31 in accordance with respective strings 4 and are fixed to the bridge base 31 by bolts 15 so as to be adjustable by movement in a longitudinal direction. A bridge saddle 42 is attached to each saddle attaching member 32 vertically freely turnably. Strings 4 are inserted into a cylinder parts 42B of bridge saddles 42 from below and are led above the bridge saddles 42 by lever attaching holes 60 and are bent forward, so that the strings are attached along string support parts 64. Cam levers 66 are freely turnably built in lever attaching holes 60 of bridge saddles 42 and are energized forward by springs 70.
