722,480. Soldering. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Sept. 24, 1952 [Sept. 27, 1951], No. 23971/52. Class 83 (4). Soldering-apparatus comprises a vessel having a reducing gas supply duct, an aperture to introduce objects to be soldered and a heating body on which solder can be melted and retained, the vessel being in free communication with the surrounding atmosphere. A chromiumnickel wire on a ceramic core is soldered to a nickel wire by introducing them through an aperture 3, Fig. 1, into a glass bulb 1 to be immersed in a drop 6 of silver solder melted on a molybdenum wire loop 5 heated by current from a transformer. A reducing gas of 25 per cent hydrogen, 75 per cent nitrogen flows through the bulb from the inlet 2. A device to be used like a soldering iron is constructed as in Fig. 2, gas being supplied through the handle tube 2. |
