PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a rear projection display device thinner. SOLUTION: A Fresnel lens 30 is provided with: an approximately rectangular plate like lens body 31 including a lens part 33 for aligning the direction of incident light thereby forming emission light; and an optical axis P1 disposed to pass through a position away from a center P2 of the lens body 31 by a 1/2 distance X1or more of a length X2of a short side in a direction X along the short side 31A of the lens body 31 passing through the center P2.
