PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic polishing device and a method of a saw chain, capable of stably polishing a blade surface of the saw chain with excellent workability. SOLUTION: A grinding wheel device 2 for polishing a blade of the saw chain is arranged in one side part of a base 1, and a sandwiching device 3 for sandwiching the saw chain is arranged on the other side part, to be constituted with a transfer device 4 for automatically transferring a saw of the chain while changing the direction up to a position for polishing the saw.
