<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the skewing of recording sheet, and to precisely detect a position of a side edge of the recording sheet. <P>SOLUTION: A fixed alignment plate 37 is arranged in such a manner as to face one side edge 3a of color thermal recording sheet 3, and a pressing alignment plate 38 is arranged in such a manner as to face the plate 37. A side edge 3b of the color thermal recording sheet 3 is pressed by the plate 38 which is urged by a spring 42, so the skewing can be corrected along the plate 37. A slit of an encode plate 45, which is provided integrally with the plate 38, is detected by a two-phase output type photointerrupter 46, and counted by a counter circuit 47 for Y, so that a movement position of the plate 38 can be identified.
