PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for treating a belt-like fiber material with a fluid in which a material attached to the surface of the belt-like fiber can efficiently be removed. SOLUTION: Since the rate of washing liquid flow 7 formed along the surface of the belt-like fiber material 2 continuously conveyed in a washing tank 1 by a nozzle 6 is increased as the position of the fiber material approaches from the inside in the width direction of the belt-like fiber material to the outside in the width direction, the pressure of the washing liquid 3 which is a fluid is distributed so as to be high on the inside in the width direction of the belt-like fiber material 2 and to be low on the outside in the width direction. Since force from the inside in the width direction to the outside is made to act on the surface of the belt-like fiber material 2, the material such as fluff attached to the fiber material can be moved to the outside in the width direction.
