PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method of a solid state imaging device capable of preventing the generation of electronic shutter noise when an integration time for exposing a pixel area varies. SOLUTION: In the driving method of a solid state imaging device performing rolling shutter operation for sequentially selecting a reset operation row and a read operation row in a pixel array at a row interval based on the integration time and selecting a dummy row when the reset operation row or the read operation row is not selected, reset operation dummy rows 19a and 19b are selected such that the total number of the reset operation rows selected simultaneously and the reset operation dummy rows 19a and 19b becomes constant regardless of the number of reset operation rows selected simultaneously.
