In a pin for electric arc stud brazing flux is enclosed between the end of the pin and brazing metal secured to the pin. Brazing metal 11, e.g. of silver solder, is fixed to the pin body 10 which may be ferrous, e.g. steel, or non- ferrous, by a leg 12 deformed into a recess 13 in the body or by a threaded connection. The flux as powder, paste or semi-fluid, e.g. of boron compound type, is retained in two or more recesses 15, Fig. 2, which may be arcuate and extend more than half the thickness of the metal 11. A narrow annular groove may replace the recesses. The annular groove 17, Fig. 6, is wide and shallow and recesses 18 may be provided in the surface of the metal 11 to retain flux. The pin may be of circular, square, triangular or tubular section. |
