PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reagent which can be determined, immediately after mixing saliva and the reagent, and can measure the saliva a buffer capacity rapidly, easily, and accurately. SOLUTION: The liquid saliva buffer capacity test reagent contains an acid that has an acidic group, in which the acid dissociation index in the solution ranges from 3.6 to 4.0, such as tartaric acid and lactic acid, and is an acidic group, having the largest acid dissociation index in acidic groups that the acid has (1); a pH indicator, in which the discolored region of Chlorophenol Red, or the like ranges from a pH of 4.5 to 7.0 (2); water (3); and both 2-methyl-4-iso-thiazoline-3-on and 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-iso-thiazoline-3-on.
