<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for a drive unit for a vehicle that is changeable between a continuously variable speed change state to function as an electric type continuously variable transmission and a stepped speed change state to function as a stepped transmission, in which speed change control to the drive unit by manual operation can be quickly executed. <P>SOLUTION: In manual speed change to change total speed change ratio γT of a speed change mechanism 10 by manual operation, the total speed change ratio γT is changed by speed change control in a stepped transmission part 20 by a manual speed change control means 80, so that the total speed change ratio γT is quickly changed in steps, that is with greater change of the speed change ratio so as to improve speed change responsiveness in manual operation.
