PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a closed type heat exchanger capable of providing high cooling efficiency. SOLUTION: In this closed type heat exchanger, a jacket part 2 is disposed on the outer periphery of a reaction kettle 1, a cooling member 9 is fitted to the outer periphery of the jacket part 2, and a heat exchange medium storing part 3 is formed at the lower part of the jacket part 2 to store a heat exchange medium 6. A heat exchange chamber 10 is formed all around the storing part 3, and a steam supply pipe 11 and a cooling water supply pipe 15 are connected to the heat exchange chamber 10. The low temperature medium 6 flowing down the outer periphery of the reaction kettle 1 vaporizes by removing the heat of the reaction kettle 1, and is cooled by the cooling member 9 in the jacket part 2.
