The method involves cutting laminations of a stator (2). End sleeves are raised from protruding ends of guide tubes (3). A bearing shield is positioned over its shield cams. The sleeves are screwed into the tubes by self tapping screws. The screws are engaged with a recess of the cams to fix the laminations and to position the shield. A crack between the shield and laminations is sealed by an injected foam rubber sealing compound. An independent claim is also included for an electric motor.
