<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent member and a semiconductor light emitting device capable of providing luminous light having high luminance. <P>SOLUTION: The fluorescent member for the semiconductor light emitting device for making a phosphor emit light by light emitted from a semiconductor light emitting element and the fluorescent member is a sintered body obtained by sintering inorganic phosphor particles. The semiconductor light-emitting device has a semiconductor light-emitting element and a sealing material for sealing the element and installs the fluorescent member so as to be positioned on light path of light. The semiconductor light emitting device has the semiconductor light emitting element and a reflecting member provided so that light emitted from the semiconductor light emitting element is irradiated and installs the fluorescent member on the reflecting member. Since the fluorescent member is a sintered body obtained by sintering inorganic phosphor particles, nonconventional high luminescence intensity can be obtained by using the fluorescent member in the semiconductor light emitting device for making the phosphor emit light by light emitted from the semiconductor light emitting element, particularly light having 350-500 nm wavelength. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
