<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a speed control method of a rolling mill for controlling the speed of a rolling mill when a material to be rolled is bitten when rolling the material. <P>SOLUTION: A predicted value of rolling torque which is necessary to roll the material with the rolling mill when biting it is calculated on the basis of the draft and rolling speed to be set to the rolling mill and the material characteristics of the material to be rolled and the predicted drop of the rolling speed when the material to be rolled is bitten into the rolling mill is calculated on the basis of the calculated predicted value of the rolling torque when the material is bitten. Next, a speed command value to an electric motor driving unit for driving the mill motor is calculated by correcting the rolling speed to be set to the rolling mill on the basis of the calculated predicted drop of the rolling speed at the biting and the speed of the rolling mill is increased preliminarily before the material is bitten by setting the speed command value to the electric motor driving unit. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
