PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chip variable resistor in which a rotor composed of a bowl-shaped body, and an upper face plate or a lower face plate is a twice-folded type one formed of a metal plate, wherein a processing cost is suppressed while strength is increased, and the rotation of a driver is accurately followed by the rotation of a connection point to enhance quality. SOLUTION: A rotor 5 comprises a bowl-shaped body 6 and an upper face plate 7, and the upper face plate 7 is overlapped on the flange 6a of the bowl-shaped body 6 from below in a certain range on a leaning side to a hinge 9. A recess 15 and a projection 14 which are fitted to each other are formed in the upper face plate 7 and the flange 6a. Since a twisting force acting on the upper face plate 7 and the hinge 9 when a resistance value is adjusted is supported by a fitting part between the recess 15 and the projection 14, the upper face plate 7 is not deformed. Since the processing of the recess 15 and the projection 14 is carried out together with the processing of the bowl-shaped body 6, the number of steps of metal plate processing is not increased.
